About the Opportunity

Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established Old Age Home in Heilbron, Free State, for a qualified and compassionate Registered Nurse to join their nursing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to residents, monitoring their ongoing clinical needs, administering medication, maintaining accurate clinical records, and supporting their overall health, comfort, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care & Clinical Nursing

• Provide professional nursing care to residents.

• Conduct nursing assessments and monitor residents' health and clinical needs.

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualised nursing care plans.

• Monitor vital signs and identify changes in residents' health conditions.

• Perform wound care and other nursing procedures within scope of practice.

• Assist with the management and monitoring of chronic health conditions.

• Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and changes in residents' clinical condition.

• Coordinate referrals and further medical intervention where required.

Medication Management

• Administer prescribed medication safely and accurately.

• Maintain accurate medication administration records.

• Monitor residents for medication effectiveness and adverse reactions.

• Ensure medication is stored, controlled, and managed according to applicable requirements and facility procedures.

Multidisciplinary Care

• Liaise with Medical Doctors and other healthcare professionals regarding residents' clinical needs.

• Coordinate continuity of care and follow-up treatment.

• Communicate professionally and compassionately with residents and their families.

• Work collaboratively with nursing staff, caregivers, and management.

Clinical Administration & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and confidential nursing and resident records.

• Complete clinical documentation, nursing notes, and incident reports.

• Ensure compliance with SANC professional standards and applicable policies and procedures.

• Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control standards.

• Support quality assurance and resident safety initiatives.

Nursing Team Support

• Provide guidance and clinical support to Enrolled Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Caregivers where required.

• Assist with the coordination of nursing activities and resident care.

• Promote high professional standards, teamwork, and compassionate care.

 

Minimum Requirements

• Registered Nurse qualification – Essential

• Current SANC registration – Essential

• Previous experience working with elderly patients or residents – Advantageous

• Experience in an Old Age Home, Frail Care, Hospital, Rehabilitation, or similar healthcare environment – Advantageous

• Sound clinical assessment and nursing skills

• Knowledge of medication administration and management

• Knowledge of wound care and infection prevention and control

• Strong clinical documentation and record-keeping skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

• Compassionate and patient-centred approach to elderly care

Working Hours
