Sessional Medical Doctor – Emergency Centre

Location: West Rand, Gauteng
Placement Type: Sessional / Flexible Shifts
Industry: Private Emergency Care

Position Overview

Medical Resources Group (MRG) is recruiting experienced Medical Doctors for sessional opportunities within private Emergency Centres in the West Rand and surrounding areas.

We are looking for doctors who are confident working in a fast-paced Emergency Centre environment and who can provide safe, professional and efficient patient care across day, night and weekend shifts.

Minimum Requirements

  • MBChB / MBBCh or equivalent recognised medical qualification

  • Current HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner – Independent Practice

  • Valid professional indemnity / malpractice insurance with appropriate Emergency Centre / A&E cover

  • Previous private Emergency Centre experience

  • Current or valid recognised emergency medicine certifications, including:

    • ATLS or EMATT

    • ACLS or ACLS(EP)

    • PALS, PALS(EP) or APLS

  • Good clinical judgement and ability to work independently within an Emergency Centre environment

  • Strong communication and patient-management skills

CareOn Credentialing

Existing CareOn credentials will be an advantage.

Doctors who are not yet credentialed may be required to complete the applicable CareOn credentialing and facility onboarding requirements before being allocated sessions, depending on the healthcare facility.

Advantageous Qualifications & Skills

  • Dip PEC(SA)

  • Ultrasound Level 1

  • Additional emergency medicine training

  • Experience with private hospital Emergency Centre systems and protocols

  • Computer literacy and electronic patient record systems

Key Responsibilities

The successful doctor will be expected to:

  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Centre

  • Provide emergency medical treatment in accordance with current clinical standards and HPCSA requirements

  • Manage acute and potentially life-threatening medical and trauma cases

  • Participate in emergency resuscitations when required

  • Stabilise and appropriately refer or admit patients where necessary

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation

  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, specialists and other healthcare professionals

  • Adhere to facility policies, clinical protocols and infection-control requirements

  • Maintain all required professional registrations, indemnity cover and emergency course certification

  • Participate in clinical governance, peer review or facility requirements where applicable

Session Availability

Opportunities may include:

  • Day shifts

  • Night shifts

  • Weekend shifts

  • Public holiday shifts

  • Regular recurring sessions

  • Ad hoc sessional availability

Doctors may indicate their preferred availability and the number of sessions they are able to assist with.
